Please note that Uncle Slayton’s focuses primarily on those who play original music, and while we focus on several genres, hardcore, metal, rap/hip-hop are not among them. That said, if you are a musician or representative of same and wish to book an event or perform at Uncle Slayton’s, please complete the contact information at right and provide relevant links so that we can access your music.
The Uncle can tend toward a listening room-style concert venue but standing shows happen as well. While several have dedicated followings, we cannot offer potential performers a built-in crowd. Likewise, while we do fill a niche with new and emerging artists in the market, it is in all of our best interests if you are known to Louisville audiences in some way (previous shows, relatives in town, former player/resident yourself, airplay, etc.). Like many smaller listening rooms around the country and coupled with the fact that we're fairly new, Uncle Slayton's is more of a destination location, even though we're close to downtown and area go-to spots.
Uncle Slayton's does not accept unsolicited physical demos and press kits, or EPKs. If we receive written or recorded material from you that we did not request, don't be surprised if you don't hear from us. Even though we've only been open since March of 2011, the number of booking requests we receive can be daunting so please make every attempt to ensure that your band will work in our venue. This approach affords us the time to focus on connecting audiences with performers we truly enjoy and believe others will as well, and not simply fill dates on the calendar.
If you are interested in a supporting slot opening for another artist, please keep in mind that several of our headlining/touring acts either request that there be no other artist on the bill, or tour with direct support. That being said, check our website often and send us an email when you see an artist on our calendar you might open for and we'll take it from there - this typically involves requesting approval from artist management, so your patience is appreciated during this process. If you happen to know the headlining artist or their representative personally, feel free to ask them directly. Please allow at least two weeks response time for emails -- multiple emails regarding the same subject will not decrease this response time.
If you already have a date booked, please send us anything we can use to help promote the event here at the club: posters, flyers, weblinks, CDs, photos, etc. Important: We do not accept mail at the venue itself and anything sent to it will be returned; please contact us directly for our mailing address. Promotion from our end includes regular local/area listings, local triple A radio and social media presences, and basic street team. Ultimately, though, promo is the responsibility of the performer and/or the performer's promotional team. We do maintain a detailed local media list and are happy to share it for use in promoting your event.
Uncle Slayton’s wishes to help whenever possible to promote the show and sales of your music prior to and after your performance here. As such, we expect you to allow us the opportunity of playing digital recordings of your music before, after or between other performances at the Uncle - we are proud of our artist family!
Load-in for performers is generally 2-3 hours prior to door time with sound check immediately following. Load-in is through front doors, and parking for performers is available in front of the venue. Nearby business lots are available once load-in is complete. For information on Slayton's sound and light systems, please email us for details and we'll respond as promptly as possible.
Finally, we believe our FOH sound engineers are among the best in the Louisville area. They designed our system and know its capability. Should you be touring with your own FOH sound person, that tour member will most certainly be able to advise our FOH staff, but Uncle Slayton’s own engineer will set levels and control the sound board at all times. Production contact information is included in all offer and performance agreements should any questions or concerns arise.
